Tour de Blast

Rotary Club of Longview Presents Tour de Blast!

The Tour de Blast is a challenging and scenic cycling event held on the south side of Mount St. Helens, one of the most iconic volcanic landscapes in the Pacific Northwest. Riders take on a demanding out-and-back course that climbs deep into the blast zone created by the 1980 eruption, offering a rare chance to experience the stark, dramatic recovery of the terrain up close.

The ride typically starts in the lower elevations near the Wind River area and ascends through dense forest into increasingly rugged volcanic terrain, with sweeping views of lava fields, pumice plains, and, on clear days, glimpses of the mountain itself. The event is known for its steady climbing, limited traffic, and strong community atmosphere, with aid stations and support along the route helping cyclists push through the long ascent.

More than just a ride, Tour de Blast blends endurance cycling with living geology—giving participants a direct encounter with the aftermath and ongoing recovery of Mount St. Helens in a way few other events can match.

Ride Begins:  Toutle Lake High School
Location 5050 Spirit Lake Hwy.
